Doctrine is by far the most extreme album the Dutch death metal band Pestilence unleashed to its worldwide fan base. The album proves at the same time that even after 25 years the band is still willing to take chances. It offers throughout provoking lyrics, dissonant chords, complex rhythm patterns and an assault of low tuned monster riffs/5(18).

Pestilence caught flak from some because that album was mostly straightforward death metal, so Doctrine should satisfy those concerns. I don't know if everyone will like it as much as I do, but I think it's a strong addition to their discography, and it makes me excited to /5(18).
